Hidden Highways is an interactive multimedia exhibit that invites visitors to explore the vast network of rivers used to transport goods throughout the US. A map of the US hides a large plasma monitor. Below the map is a list of departure and destination cities with corresponding pushbuttons. When a visitor selects a departure and destination city, the monitor lights up, drawing the path of the river and revealing the length of the journey and elevations along the way. When the “View All Waterways” button is pressed, the entire network is revealed.
